Milnerton High School is proud to have a number of world-class players as alumni. We hope to encourage more of our young golfers to the top of the game.

Ji Sun Kang:

By the time Ji Sun matriculated in 2013, she had won the Nomads South African Girl’s Championship and reached the final of the Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Championship.

A year later she made history when she finished in the top 55 at the Western Province Amateur Stroke Play Championship … against the men.

She spent the next 2 years at the University of South Florida and Daytona College where she continued to perform consistently.

A highlight for her was winning Individual Honours at the 8th NJCAA National Championships in 2016. Her impressive performance helped her team (the Daytona Falcons) to a 25 shot victory.

Ji Sun then moved back to South Korea.

She recently won the KPLGA Jump Tour (KPLGA 2017 Abacus Tournament) with rounds of 63 and 67. With this win she now moves up to the KPLGA Dream Tour.

Ji Sun, with her quiet determination, is an example of where hard work and dedication can take you.

Cara Gorlei:

Cara was the South African Junior Champion and South African Player of the Year when she matriculated in 2014.

That year, she represented South Africa at the World Amateur Team Espirito Trophy in Japan (and again in Mexico in 2016).

In 2015, she moved to America to study at the University of Arkansas on a Golf Scholarship.

Not only did she perform superbly on the golf course, consistently qualifying for the NCAA Championships, but she also made it to the Dean’s List for academics!

In 2017, Cara won both the Strokeplay and Matchplay titles at the Sanlam South African Women’s Amateur Championship.

Cara, who has been the #1-ranked South African Junior and Senior Women’s Player, is a great role model and ambassador for the our School and the sport.

Luca Filippi:

Luca, who matriculated in 2017, is our most successful golfer (so far) and his list of achievements is long and impressive. We look forward to great things from him in the future!
